Incident #302: Teen On The Brink – Alek

Falling off of the wagon is easy – and common. Falling off the wagon has consequences, too. A person might lose his job, fail his classes, lose his friends, ruin his relationships. This is one of the reasons we keep our House to full; guys dig their holes and then they need a lot of help getting out. Luckily for them, we are here to help. Luckily for us, these guys are all young men who aren’t difficult to push around. After all, they are at their most vulnerable point in their lives when they are with us, and they usually have nowhere else to turn. If they had other resources, they wouldn’t be here in the first place: they would be with family, good friends, or staying a facility that had a sprawling campus in the hills outside of Santa Barbara. Well, this loser couldn’t stay on the wagon long enough to get through his first few weeks, and we can’t just have guys like him running around the House setting a bad example for the others. So, as a House Manager, I did what I had to do.
