Elder Ocean’s sins did not go unnoticed. Despite being tempted by his fellow members, he’s responsible for his actions, and the brotherhood’s authorities need to ensure that he understands that there are consequences. President Standard summons the young boy and explains to him that spreading God’s word around the world doesn’t give him any right to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh. Xavier knows this is true, but he is too innocent and cannot help it. He listens to the President’s speech in silence, hoping he doesn’t get expelled for his unholy deeds. President Standard is much more understanding than Xavier thinks. He knows how young elders are tempted by lust, and that they need some kind of outlet so these thoughts and actions don’t interfere with their sacred mission. Instead of prohibition, President Standard shows Elder Oceane a much more powerful way of self-control before departing to his next mission.
