Gage, Alex’s stepson, is about to leave for military deployment. He just turned 18 and wants to earn a scholarship to make his stepdad proud at any cost. As a single parent, Alex is deeply emotional about the separation and wants to give Gage something special to carry with him. As he watches Gage pack, Alex tries to have a candid conversation with him so they both can let everything out. Gage can hardly talk about what’s going on in his mind, as he is not happy to leave his stepdad either. Alex tries to make him feel better by telling him that everything will be okay. A gloomy Gage tells his stepdad he is not sure how he will make it without his guidance. Moved, Alex gently kisses his boy on the lips and decides to surprise him with a special farewell. He understands that the best way to send off his stepson is to prepare him for the real world by taking his virginity.
